FAQs

  • What do I need to bring?

You aren’t required to bring anything with you other than a willingness to explore and have fun!

You are free to come with ideas and our tutors will help advise and guide you into whether they are possible during your session.

  • What should I wear?

Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Pottery is a messy business and can leave stains on clothing.

    You must wear flat shoes.

  • Are tools and materials included?

All tools and materials are included in all of our courses and workshops.

  • How much work can I expect to make on a course?

During a 6 week course each student is entitled to keep 5 pieces included in the price. We think this is the average amount people usually make on this course.

The main objective of our courses is to teach you how to make ceramics well and help you practise and develop your technique, rather than to make as many pots as possible.

  • Can I bring my own clay or glazes?

‍No, you can not bring your own clay, glazes or other ceramic materials to our classes.

Ceramic materials are very unpredictable and we have chosen ones we have found to be reliable over many years of practice and experimentation.

  • Should I cut my nails?

Your hands will be your primary tool and having long nails can very much get in the way.

If you are able to cut your nails it is advisable to do so, otherwise we can find ways to work around it.

  • I missed a class, can I do an extra one?

On most courses, you should be able to catch up in your next lesson.

The first few and last few lessons are the most crucial lessons as that’s when you’ll learn how to get started and when you’ll finish your projects. It is important not to miss these.

It is not possible to catch up on a class or sit in on a lesson on a different course.

  • When can I collect my finshed pots?

We will be in touch when your pots are ready to collect.

Processing times are at least 3 weeks so please wait for this time before getting in touch.

Pots are kept for 6 weeks after they are complete. If you don’t collect them within this time they will be given to a charity shop.

  • I want to come with a friend, can I book more than one place?

    Yes you certainly can.

Just book two places and ensure to share the starter’s information you will receive via email with the other person.

  • When do new dates become available?

We aim to release new workshop and course dates as regularly as we can, giving at least 3 weeks notice before the start date.
